A boutique practice that brings built work experience, designing and delivering projects across Canada

The Studio

We believe the design process is our craft and our studio is founded with this at its roots. This process, along with our constant desire to explore and discover new and novel potential, can create wonderful design outcomes. As a boutique practice the studio brings design and project delivery experience across multiple sectors, from private residences to large scale commercial, residential, institutional, and civic projects. LDA Studio is a landscape architecture and design practice, and we strive to craft projects that are of the land, creating meaningful and lasting outcomes for place, people and culture.

Practice a Design Conversation.

For us, design is a conversation, not simply an outcome or product. We always work by asking questions and listening. It may seem simple but this is the foundation of our design process. We craft our process to the project, to work towards design that creatively meets users needs while telling a unique project story. Through the design journey we iterate, adapt and evolve design ideas creating something that might not have been realized any other way.

Create Places of Unique Experience.

Creating places that are intrinsically linked to the context in which they were crafted is what gets us excited. We often ask, could this project exist anywhere else and for anyone else? If the answer is no, we are on the right track. To create novel places we believe the experience is the essence of what makes it unique. Everything from how you engage with spaces, to what you see and smell are ways we strive to create experiences that are inseparable from the unique project context.

Craft our Future, for Generations.

The projects we build today are our future. We believe some of the most sustainable projects are the ones that last, to positively contribute for future generations. We ask ourselves, what this project looks like 20, 50 or 100 years from now? What do we need to consider for our shared future? All project briefs are unique, but we always aim to create sustainable, resilient and adaptable places for today, tomorrow and future generations to thrive.

design service

  • We bring experience working on high-profile projects across Canada and provide design services from concept through to construction. Land is the foundation of everything we do. We design to craft places of the land, that reflect and positively contribute to the local ecology and environment.

  • Crafting a long-term and aspirational vision for projects is how we create unique places in the future. Our master planning work aims to create frameworks for meaningful and positive development. We stand on experience delivering built projects, with a focus on project realization and implementation. From a vision statement all the way to site inhabitation we work to make sure the principles guiding the master plan are reflected through the built environment.

  • The studio actively collaborates with design partners to support and deliver projects across Canada. Bringing experience and expertise through multiple sectors the studio can assist project teams in a variety of capacities to provide value to design processes and project outcomes. From design assistance, project support, project management and coordination we tailor the studio to the project needs. We are always happy to discuss what we can offer in a collaboration or design support capacity.
